William Joseph Flaherty's Obituary
William J. Flaherty, 78, a former Deputy Director of Program Analysis and Evaluation for the U.S. Army Material Command passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018 in Leesburg, VA.
Mr. Flaherty earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska Omaha and a Masters from the University of Arkansas. After spending three years in the Army (Army Intelligence) in Berlin, Germany, he was employed by the Central Intelligence Agency for seven years. He then worked for 28 years as a civilian employee with the Army in the area of logistics, which included five years working in Germany. After retiring from government service, Mr. Flaherty worked for a defense contractor and then spent five years as a Virginia Magistrate in Warren County, VA. He also volunteered with the Loudoun Medical Reserve Corps.
Mr. Flaherty is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Catherine Flaherty of Leesburg, two daughters, and their spouses, Shawn Flaherty (Roman Blazauskas) and Colleen Flaherty (Mike Dorsch) both of Ashburn, VA and eight grandchildren.
