William Paul Shanahan's Obituary
William Paul Shanahan of Leesburg, VA, born October 24, 1928 in Washington DC, peacefully fell asleep in death on August 31, 2018. He was retired after many years with the Center for Applied Research, Great Falls; and BioTechnology, Inc., Falls Church. Much loved by his wife, Kay Wallace; his children, Michael, Lisa, Paul and April, Patrick and Kim; Colin, and Jeff McGuire. The Shanahan clan includes his grandchildren and great grandchildren, Justin and Laura, their baby son, Charlie; Jamie and Josh; Ryan, Katie and children, Mason and Harper; Austin and Ashley; Jordan and Caili. His parents were William Prosper Shanahan of Salina, Kansas and Linda Mary Shanahan of DC.
Bill was especially proud of his Irish heritage. He loved dogs, was a beer enthusiast; and a gifted pianist. He loved Sinatra, Miles Davis, Chopin, and Beethoven. He was a stickler for the correct usage of the English language and was also the consummate gentleman.
Smart, funny, compassionate, unconventional, and opinionated, he was the center of the universe for his family.
We shall miss him.
