William Irol Tincher's Obituary
William (Bill) Irol Tincher, 90, of Winchester, Virginia passed away peacefully and went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 2, 2024, after a brief illness. He was born December 3, 1933, and was the oldest child of Orville Truman Tincher and Nina Fletcher Tincher. He went to Leesburg High School where he met the love of his life Peggy Clagett (Tincher), who survives. They were married on July 8, 1952, and had 4 children. William and Peggy spent most of their lives in the Leesburg/Loudoun County area, moving to Winchester after retirement. They had been married for a phenomenal 71 years.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by a son PFC William Clay Tincher, United States Army, a brother David Orville Tincher and a son-in-law Douglas Leo Shafer. He is survived by his daughters Debbi Tincher Shafer Baglio (Anthony) and Jean Tincher Fiske (J.W) and a son Orville Lee Tincher (Carol). He also has 11 grandchildren (which includes spouses), John William Fiske, III (Rebecca), Timothy Paul Fiske, Sr. (Kelly), Elisabeth Esther Fiske, Matthew Douglas Shafer, Amanda Shafer Hall (Dustin), Nicole Tincher Stanley (Tim) and Katherine Esther Tincher as well as 12 great grandchildren (which includes spouses), Timothy Fiske, Jr. (Kierra), Sarah Fiske, Parker Fiske (Alyssa), Ruth Fiske, Alexandra Fiske, Andy Fiske, Caleb Fiske, Avalynne Fiske, Oliver Stanley and Harleyquinn Stanley. William is also survived by a sister Janice Tincher Myers (Tom) and a brother Michael E. Tincher (Pam).
William was a Deacon, Elder and choir member in the Leesburg Presbyterian Church for many years. He was also a lay minister bringing many inspiring messages to the congregation when the minister had to be out unexpectedly. After moving to Winchester and becoming members of the First Presbyterian Church, William and Peggy became Stephen Ministers in 2002 serving the congregation there for almost 20 years. In addition to church choirs, William sang in several community choirs including The Arts Academy Chorale of Winchester which was part of Shenandoah University.
William loved all types of music as well as theater. In addition to singing, he played several instruments including guitar, banjo, and harmonica. He was a member of the Loudoun Playmakers in the 1960’s and was in many musicals and shows including playing Curly in Oklahoma! and Lt. Cable in South Pacific. William spent many hours building and flying radio-controlled airplanes and was a member of the American Model Aircraft Society nationally as well as the RC Flying Club in Loudoun County. He was an avid Ham Radio operator since the early 1960’s communicating with operators all over the world. William also loved fishing and spent many hours on a boat with friends, fishing. He and Peggy had some very close friends whom they loved like family.
William owned and operated his own electrical company Tincher Electric for several years. After dissolving the company, he went to work for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) as a Wind Tunnel Designer and Engineer. After leaving NOAA, he tried his hand at teaching electricity at Loudoun County Vocational Technical School for 2 years before getting a job at the Department of the Navy as an Electronic Engineer and Radar Technician from which he retired.
William’s celebration of life will be held Monday, Jan 8th at 2:00 P.M. with a public viewing starting at 1:00 P.M. the location is Loudoun Funeral Chapel, Leesburg, Virginia. Interment will follow at Union Cemetery in Leesburg.
