William "Buddy" Cameron's Obituary
Mr. William “Buddy” Frederick Cameron, 71, of Leesburg, VA, died on Saturday, October 4th, 2008, in Inova Alexandria Hospital in Alexandria, VA. A son of the late William F. Colcock and the late Sara Yenkinson; Buddy was born on May 3rd, 1937 in Washington, DC, grew up in MD, and served his country in the United States Navy.
Mr. Cameron spent his professional career surrounded by his love of music. He held a Doctorate and many Master’s Degrees in Music Education. His career included performing at the opening of the John F. Kennedy Center, singing with the Fred Waring Choral Group, and the Norman Scribner Choir. In 1998, after 35 years as a music teacher, Mr. Cameron retired from Prince Georges County Public Schools.
He is survived by his wife of 18 years, Diane Cameron of Leesburg; stepdaughters and sons-in-law: Angie and Conor Cahill of Waterford, and Jennifer and Keith Johnston of Purcellville; by six beloved grandchildren, C.J., Lauren, and Jessica Cahill; and Taylor, Lindsey and Erin Johnston.
He is also survived by his sister: Jordan Cameron of Ruidoso, NM, and brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Ursula Colcock of Hyattsville, MD; nieces and nephews, Karen and Frank Beck, and Angie and Andy Colcock.
Friends may call on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from 10:00 am until the time of service at 11:00 am at the Leesburg Baptist Church, 835 Lee Avenue, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Interment will be held privately at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Cameron’s memory to the Leesburg Baptist Church.
