Winifred Wyckoff Nix's Obituary
"Winnie" Nix, 81, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, Sep. 24th, 2013, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. She was surrounded by family, who had gathered to sing her favorite hymns, as she went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Born May 10th, 1932, in East Orange, NJ, to the late Edward C. Wyckoff and Marion Spanjer Wyckoff, Winnie spent her childhood there with her sister Betty, eventually attending East Orange HS. She then attended Cornell University where she met and married her husband, Morris Banks Nix.
Morris and Winnie raised their 9 children on the family farm near Waterford, VA, and then traveled extensively, both for pleasure and for the Renewing Love women's ministry, of which she was president for many years.
Winnie rejoiced in all of God's beautiful creation, never missing an opportunity to dance and sing and celebrate His glory. One of her greatest attributes was making lasting friendships wherever she went. She radiated joy. Winnie is survived by her husband of 63 years, and by 8 of her 9 children, 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, September 28th, 2013, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel in Leesburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and invite friends to a reception following the service.
