Yris Judith de Leon's Obituary
Yris Judith de León, 59, died June 23, 2022, with her beloved family by her side.
Yris moved to Leesburg, VA, from Guatemala 19 years ago. She worked at River Creek Country Club as a banquet server for 17 years. She had the opportunity to train many seasonal and regular servers and make long-lasting friendships. She also built her own house cleaning business, a job that gained her more friends who seemed like family to her. Yris was well known in the Leesburg Latino community as a kind and giving person. She routinely went out of her way to help others in need. In 2021, Yris was diagnosed with cancer. Despite treatments and her strong desire to live, she died peacefully in her home, surrounded by family.
She is survived by her loving partner, Ramón Felix, and four adoring children, Evelin Garrido de León, Esmeralda Garrido de León, Rudy Herrera de León, and Maggie Herrera Walker. Her cherished grandchildren include Javier Rivas, Julian Rivas, Izabela Herrera, and William Herrera. In addition, she is survived by her devoted sisters, Lidia Margoth de León and Lity Irlanda Turcios de León, and brother Walter Alberto de León.
A service of remembrance will be held at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel at 4:30 pm on Tuesday, Jun 28, 2022. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made in Yris’ memory to Capital Caring Health, 3180 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, VA 22042. (www.capitalcaring.org)
