Yuing Liu Hsiao's Obituary
Yuing Hsiao passed away on June 10th at Inova Hospital, Ashburn, Virginia. Yuing Liu was born in Henan Province, China on May 12th, 1917. She married in 1937. In 1949, at the end of the Chinese Revolution, she fled to Taiwan with her family and others of Chiang Kai-shek's army. She was known as a stong-willed, loving, gentle, and extremely kind person. Yuing Liu was very family oriented and treated her children’s friends as if they were her own. In 1973 Yuing Liu immigrated to the United States with other members of her family and started several Chinese restaurants in the Northern Virginia area. She was a hard worker, and despite her age, she could out-work anyone in the restaurant. She liked to play the Chinese game of mahjong. She often stayed up all night playing and still went to work the next day. Her energy was amazing. Yuing Liu retired at the age of 86. In retirement she enjoyed playing casino slot machines, entertaining family and friends in her home, and watching TV. Yuing Liu was witty and had a wonderful sense of humor. She was very entertaining and a joy to be around. Even at 102 she was quick to laugh and still had a wonderful warm smile. She will be greatly missed by all who had the good fortune to be part of her life.
Yuing Liu is survived by her children, Hsiao-Yun Hsiao, Hsiao-Fen Roy, Tai-Feng Cheng, Christina Hsiao, Hsiao Ming, and Tom Hsiao. Son- in Law’s, Ronald G Roy and Rodger Crutchfield. Grandchildren, Louise Hsiao, Jimmy Hsiao, Angie Davis, John Roy, Christy Alderink, Ronny Cheng, Michelle Hsiao, Sophia Yanakiev, and Joanna Hsiao. Great-Grandchildren, Aaron Tsai, Gabirel Ang, Nate Hsiao, Kyle Schlue, Jessica Davis, Cadence Roy, Kaya Roy, Lili Alderink, Ela Alderink, Christian Alderink, Ethan Cheng, Alina Cheng, Reily Roy, Ried Roy, and Luke Esteves.
Yuing Liu is preceded in death by her Father, Yuqing Liu, Mother, Wang Mei Liu, Husband, Pai Guien Hsiao, Son, Tony Hsiao, and Grandson, Robert A Roy.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, 10am – 11am, following Service at Leesburg Community Church in Leesburg, Va. Burial will be held Tuesday June 16th at 11:15 at Fairfax Memorial Park.
