Barbara Ann O'Connor, 78, of Sterling, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Roy Clayton Marcum and the late Mary Katherine Blankenship. She was the wife of the late William J. O' Read Obituary
Rob and I still can't believe that this beautiful lady has departed for a better place. We are lucky to have a cook book that she gave us for our wedding which included recipes from both her and her mom. She reminded us "All the Blankenship women are good cooks." :-) My favorite recipe out of the bunch is Barbara Ann's Amaretto Cake. We will miss you Barbara Ann but you will always be in our hearts. We are sending love and prayers to all of the family.
What a wonderful BFF she was. Always willing to listen and offer support when I needed it. My family loved her as much as I did . Such a wonderful, caring , loving lady. I was so fortunate to have become friends when we were in our teens and to continue that friendship for so many years. Miss her but know that she is dancing around heaven and looking down on all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with Missy, Greg, Pattie, Donnie and their families. She is missed by all of us but her memories will live with us forever. Rest In Peace my dearest BFF.
What a gift she was to so many. For me, I recall us backstage--giggling and whispering for so many shows at the Old Opera House. She was a joy to watch perform, fully giving of heart and talent to the audience. (Loved her, "Hey, Big Spender"_ And then the decades of a phone call to catch-up, a luncheon, parties at the pool, and our annual Xmas get-together with Lisa Hendrick--the three musketeers forever bonded in a most special friendship. I will miss her honesty always given but never with malice, her laugh, her kindness and support. But she will always remain in my heart and will still be a guide to a loving response to living, WWBD? I can only the imagine the ache the family is enduring, but also recalling special times as a comfort. My prayers are with you. Love, Carol Gallant

Barbara joined the Siegel family gatherings as if she had been part of the family for years. We particularly remember her at the Santa Cruz vacation honoring Michaela’s 13th birthday. She brought a joyous spirit and interest in others. She clearly valued Missy and they shared a close loving relationship. Her love for Michaela was wonderful to see and obviously cherished by both. She will be missed but we also celebrate the light and love she brought to all.

Beautiful Barbara. What a joy to know Barbara. She was as beautiful to see and to be with because she was a joy and gave pleasure to know her and her talent. She had an aura of strength and accomplishment including her church work and taking care of the young people at the church. In her family she was daughter, sister, mother and grandmother. She did every job there is in a family with love and energy. She shall be missed
