Bertha "Bert" Ellen Putnam's Obituary
Bertha "Bert" Ellen Putnam of Sterling, VA died on April 10, 2013.
A Vermont native, Bert traveled the world with husband of 62 years, Bob Putnam, during his careers in the U.S. Coast Guard and Foreign Service, including living in Jordan, Yemen, India, Turkey, and Moscow where she also worked for the Embassy. They retired to Falls Church, VA, later moving to Falcons Landing.
Bert touched many with her love of life, animals and children and tireless volunteer work. She was predeceased by her husband. Survivors include many close friends and William, Robert, and Edward Putnam, Susan McGuire, Joanne Welsh and 11 great nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be at 11 am April 22 at Falcons Landing 20522 Falcons Landing Circle, Potomac Falls, VA 20165. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are welcomed to ASPCA 424 E. 92nd St. New York, NY 10128 or Doctors without Borders USA, P.O. Box 5030, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5030.
