Carol A. Fleming's Obituary
Carol A. Fleming, 76, of Machipongo, VA passed away on Friday, September 14, 2012 in Leesburg, VA. Mrs. Fleming was born May 27, 1936 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Frank and Mary Castner Cofield. Her brother Kevin and sisters Miriam and Ethel predeceased her. She grew up in Keansburg, NJ and graduated from nursing school at St. Francis Nursing School in Trenton, NJ. Mrs. Fleming was a registered nurse at the River View Hospital in Red Bank, NJ. She later served as a hospice nurse for 18 years with Monmouth County Department of Social Services and the Northampton County (VA) Health Department prior to her retirement.
Mrs. Fleming is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years: Robert H. Fleming of Machipongo, VA; three children: Douglas Fleming (Kathy) of Parksley, VA, Andrew Fleming (Mary) of Ashburn, VA, Nancy Jean Cortes (Leonardo) of Roanoke, VA; three brothers: David Cofield, Tommy Cofield, Allen Cofield; six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
A mass will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, 19 Cherry Tree Farm Road in Middletown, NJ on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at 10:30am with luncheon to follow at The American Hotel in Freehold, NJ. An inurnment service will be held at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 550 Randolph Avenue, Cape Charles, VA on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at 11:00am with luncheon to follow at The Eastville Inn, Cape Charles, VA. Inurnment will be in the church cemetery.
