Cecelia J. Schenk's Obituary
Mrs. Cecelia J. Schenk, age 75, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 23, 2012 in Leesburg, Virginia.
Cecelia was born on January 17, 1937 in Longview, Washington. She was born to Raymond T. Kann and Hazel Frost. Cecelia was raised in Klamath Falls, Oregon, where she attended Sacred Heart Academy. In 1955 she entered the convent as a Franciscan nun, where she served the Church as a teacher until January of 1971.
On December 4, 1971 she married Ronald Henry Schenk, and gave birth to her only child, Matthew, on December 30, 1972. Mrs. Schenk taught in the West Linn and Hermiston, Oregon, public school systems, retiring in 1994. She was named “Teacher of the Year” in 1988 and touched the lives of hundreds of children during her teaching career.
She is survived by her husband Ronald, her son Matthew, her daughter-in-law Ronna, and two grandchildren Duncan and Brynn, all of Leesburg, Virginia. Cecelia was predeceased by her twin sister Catherine Nickles, and younger sister Cynthia McDonald.
A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church (Chapel of the Immaculate Conception), 231 N. King Street, Leesburg, Virginia.
Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
