Christopher John Thomas Macaoay's Obituary
Christopher John Thomas Macaoay
Born March 9, 1966 in Red Bank, New Jersey to his loving parents Albert and Stella Macaoay. Raised in Cranford, New Jersey, Christopher graduated Cranford High School 1984. Christopher left this life October 2, 2024 in Ashburn, Virginia.
Christopher was an adventurer that loved sharing adventures with friends. He was a peer development advisor who took great pride in his students. He was a poet who always questioned the world around us. He was a comedian who loved a joke and loved to play one on you. He was not afraid to steal material from anyone; from Snoopy, Calvin and Hobbes, Bloom County or Playboy. Chris was an avid reader of science fiction and adventure. He was a self-taught guitar player. Before learning how to play the guitar he would walk around strumming, reciting poetry and songs and telling stories to anyone who would listen. Later, he enjoyed playing out in coffee houses and speakeasies including Folk City in New York City. He was always willing to take his guitar out and to play for friends and family, and even played for many of their weddings. He enjoyed skydiving, including free falling. He also enjoyed bowling, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, free cliff climbing, bicycling, dancing in a chorus or on the dance floor; always, always with some friends along for the adventure.
Outgoing, he seemed almost fearless at times the exception being his fear of snakes which was only surpassed by his fear of dentists and doctors.
Chris was a lifelong employee of Freddie Mac. He worked for them for over 30 years. He was a company man who was always willing to participate.
Born and raised in New Jersey, his search for love brought him to Virginia. In his later years, he took up golf, darts, Civil War reenacting, and gambling but only when he knew he could beat the odds.
His family will miss him greatly. Mother, Stella Quilban nee Jacob and stepfather Bill Quilban, Father✝️Al Macaoay, and stepmother Louise Macaoay nee Dackerman, brothers and sisters, Albert Macaoay Jr( Peggy), Marya "Tina" Helmstetter (Ed), Michael "Jay" Macaoay, Kimberly Bartlett (✝️Wayne), Joy Macaoay, Bilynda Molish (✡️Andy), ✝️Monica Quilban, Patricia Napolitan (Greg), Bill Quilban Jr, 19 nieces and nephews, many aunts and uncles, friends and coworkers.
A service will be held at Loudoun Chapel and Crematorium in Leesburg Virginia on Friday October 25th 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your favorite charity because as Chris would say: "Hint #1:. Don't gamble more than you can afford to lose."
A memorial service will also be held in New Jersey at a later date to be announced.
"I’m certain that everyone here knows about Murphy’s Law.
I question if you also know about ‘Cole’s Law’.
As I understand it, it has something to do with thinly sliced cabbage and mayo."
