I was introduced to Uncle Clarence through ancestry research. Every time we talked, I cherished and valued his stories and words of wisdom. Because of him, I learned about my grandfather (his father). He took my daughter and I on a “tour” as he called it, to show me where he grew up with my grandfather, the homes he built in the area and where his grave is. Through his eyes, I got to know his children and grandchildren, as he shared stories of them with me, and he always spoke with such pride. I met Thelma, and saw the most beautiful love between them. He shared stories of how they met, and the life they built together, and he really enjoyed sharing their adventures on his Harley. I was able to share with him about his brothers, and where his father’s family was from, and introduce him to his nephew Bob.
He reached out to my daughter often, to encourage her to pick her guitar up and play it. He loved to share old country music videos with me. He never ceased to amaze me at how incredibly sharp his memory was. From his childhood through to his last weeks, he shared so many amazing memories with me, and I will forever be grateful for the opportunity to know and love him, and I will miss him and our chats so much. My sincerest condolences to everyone who knew and loved him. He was a blessing.
