Clarence Conway Johnson's Obituary
Clarence Conway Johnson, aged 94, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2026 in Leesburg, VA. Born on April 13, 1931, Clarence was a lifelong resident who married Thelma Mae Jewell in 1955 and has been a faithful companion for 71 years. His working career spanned many years, beginning with 22 years of service in the Air Force. He served bravely in Korea and Vietnam.
Clarence was a loving father, dedicated husband, and a hard worker known for his honesty and fairness. He cherished his time working on anything mechanical. Many of his best memories were made on a Harley Davidson motorcycle as he toured the country with Thelma. He was a dedicated grandfather to his four grandchildren, and eventually his thirteen great grandchildren.
He worshiped at the Assembly of God, where he formed many lifelong friendships and contributed to various church activities.
Clarence is survived by his children, Deborah M. Lawson, (Patrick Lawson), Michael Conway Johnson, and Vicki M. Johnson; and his grandchildren, Katherine S. Whitaker,(Brian Whitaker), Amanda L. Staubs, Christian (Tyler) Johnson,(Kacey Johnson) and Chrystal J. Woody,(Danny Woody).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Nellie Sulcer and Ernest Johnson (AKA Clarence Brewer) , his brothers Roger Sulcer, Clarence, Harry and Conway Brewer, and his sister, Evelyn Beach.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 11 am at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA 20175.
Interment will be held privately at the Lakeview Cemetery in Hamilton Virginia on January 22, 2026.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children P.O. Box 1525, Ranson, WV 25438.
