I do not know what made me think about David today, but thought I would look to reach out to see how my old friend is doing. My wife, Betty Ann and Chris visited you in San Luis many years ago. I am saddened to hear of his loss and my hopes that you receive this memory. He was a great friend and man, as we come toward our 45th year of leaving the HBA program at Western. My thoughts are with you and your family.

I have been thinking about the mentors in my life and was trying to connect with Dave to thank him. Janet, I am sorry to learn about his passing. I remember you both as kind supporters while I was pioneering the Business Communication program in my early faculty years at Western’s Biz School, and the lovely dinner you hosted in my honour at your home. I just heard from an old friend about David's passing. The good Lord has a keeper and Marblehead has lost an icon! David will be missed, he's set the bar very high for the rest of us to follow. I always enjoyed "the wave" and will miss it. Rest in peace David! Wishing the family peace and sending our condolences.

Dear Janet and family,
this is very sad moment for me today on Epiphany Day to learn about David's sudden death. You have lost a wonderful husband and father and I miss my very best friend from our days at the IVEY business school and several get-togethers in Berlin and Moscow.
He was a great colleague and we enjoyed so many evenings in Banff and in Berlin: His saying on evenings with great food and wine: "I wonder what the poor people do tonight" reflected his joys of the good things on earth which however were always expressed with a sign of thankfulness.
I had hoped to join him and you, Janet, for another time with opera in Berlin, but we have to wait for another meeting somewhere else...
I will enclose him in my prayers and keep a fond memory.

I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news. I really liked Dave when we were together at HBS.I am very,very sorry.
Janet and Family: I only learned of Dave's passing very recently, with my receipt of the latest HBS Bulletin. It was a real shocker to me! Janet, you may remember me as a doctoral student at HBS, a couple of years behind Dave. My wife Rae and I socialized with the two of you on occasion. While Dave was at Western, he very generously involved me in some of the training work for Bell Canada, as Dave had secured far more work than he alone could do. For about 1 1/2 years, some 35 or so years ago, I traveled twice a month from Atlanta (where I lived from '71 - '01) to Ontario Province, and tried to do almost as good a job in my 2 day training stints, as I knew Dave was doing with his. He was extremely gracious, very friendly and helpful, and I always loved his somewhat quirky sense of humor. Last I knew he was in California. I remember sending him an email showing off a couple of things not in English. Dave wrote back with about 17 different languages from his computer!!! We lost touch after that, and I knew nothing about his retirement, your move east, or anything else. I have been in touch with 2 other former colleague of ours, Gary Raffaele and Fred Foulkes, and neither knew about your whereabouts, or what had happened. Each was as shocked as I was. Fred contacted 2 or 3 others, and found we all had lost touch. We are all so very saddened by this news, and hope the fond memories from the 49 years you knew Dave, Janet, will be of some comfort.
