My heartfelt sympathy to Dr. Wright and his boys and may God give you the strength to continue forward while keeping Debra in your hearts and memory. I have just recently heard about your loss - and ours. Dr. McVey was my only vet from 1988 until 2006. She gave only the best and loving care to my "musical cats" - Allegro, Andante and Forte - and was most consoling to me when they each took their turn to go to heaven. Now they get to be with her again. She leaves only the best of memories for me. I wish my four new 'rescued' kitties had gotten to meet her before we moved to South Carolina but we will all meet again someday. Just know how many lives she has touched with her huge heart. Dr. McVey was my first vet to my beloved pooches, Shannon and Rocky when she opened in Countryside Animal Clinic. She was so amazing and always spent alot of time with us and you know she enjoyed the animals and loved what she did. She will always be fondly remembered by those of us who loved her and her gift she brought to others. Dr. Wright and Family - We were so sorry to hear of Dr. McVey's passing. I know it's been a difficult time and I hope she is at piece now. She was one of our vets through two of our dogs but never got to meet our latest dog - maybe she'll get to see our Billy and Mason up there with her! We were hoping to see you all up at Deep Creek sometime as we always shared our love of the lake with her during our visits. She was a very special & spunky lady. I don't remember exactly how I discovered her clinic, but I do remember that our sheltie (Benji) was in desperate need of a good vet. I believe it was 1987, and Countryside Animal Clinic occupied about half the space that it currently does now. There was also a "Killer Cat on Duty". She helped us out again in April 1988 when our brand new sheltie puppy (T.J. @ 6 weeks & 3lbs.) had a life-threatening condition. We'd only had him 24hours. In her no nonsense manner, she diagnosed him & kept him for a week. She took him home & cared for him personally during that time. There's no doubt that she saved his life. I think we only paid $250 for all the care that she gave him. He was both healthy & spoiled by the time we got him back! She called us personally a few different times when we dropped our last dog (Ziggy) in for a day @ the Clinic. Thank you to her family and to the wonderful Clinic staff for sharing the video and for the e-mail, especially at such a difficult time. An incredible lady. It's evident from all these wonderful testimonials that Dr. McVey had a life well-lived in the extremely positive impression she left with everyone who met her. Her faith was evident in the way she ran her vet practice, with the positive influence she had on all the CountrySide Animal Clinic's wonderful staff, and her wonderful life partner, Dr. Wright. She was so outgoing when I had the luck to have her care for my pets, and her personal touch was amazing. Her personality was boundless. She was so kind to my pet shortly before she began her treatment for her illness, and the personal attention she gave him when obviously her concern for her own health should have overwhelmed her. Dr. McVey was my first vet when I moved to Countryside in 1987. I was watching my x in-laws dogs while they were in Europe and on several occasions Dr. McVey met me at the Countryside Animal Hospital to treat my x in-laws dogs on a Sunday, without hesitating. She will always have a special place in my heart for everything that she and Dr. Wright have done for me over the last 20 some years. Dr. McVey and Dr. Wright also did an experimental surgery on my dog "Elliot" after I stepped on him in the middle of the night and Dr. McVey actually took him home with her to make sure he was "OK" how many vets now a days would do that. I still come to Countryside animal hospital with Smokey my Chihuahua and will forever see Dr. Wright. My prayers are with you. My mother saw the obituary in the Burlington paper and called me. I was in Girl Scouts with Debbie and still remember the fond memories of her. and the good times we had. I am so proud of Debbie becoming a vet. My daughter is considering that field as well. Debbie touched so many of us. Debbie, you were my vet in early 1987 when I first moved to CountrySide. From then until the mid-1990s you provided TLC to our animals and pets. I remember in particular my cat Chelsea got breast cancer, which you said was almost always fatal in cats. We did the surgery anyway and I had her for four more wonderful years...
We only left the practice reluctantly, because you all were so busy that we could never get in, or so it seemed, and were planning a move to Western Loudoun. Then, your family also moved to Lovettsville and we found the same church home.
You taught my younger daughter Kelley Sunday School and she loved you dearly. She was also good friends with your son Mike. My one regret is that I did not get to know you better. Between your illness and mine, we didn't have much time together. I am certain that I really missed out on a LOT. Your family will be in our hearts, our thoughts and our prayers, and we, your church family will take good care of them.
