Frank A. Licord, Lt. Col, Retired's Obituary
FRANK A. LICORD, Lt. Col, USA Retired, a longtime resident of the Air Force Retired Community, Sterling, VA, together with his beloved wife, Sally Audrey, now deceased, since July 1997, passed away at the age of 95 in Leesburg, VA on Wednesday December 7th 2011. He was born in Philadelphia, PA on August 1st 1916 and grew up in North Jersey, but spent the major part of their adult lives together in Northern Virginia.
Colonel Licord served on combat crews, first as a radio operator and later as a bombardier in the Army Air Corps during WWII, and as a transportation specialist with the Army ground forces during the Korean War and later, her was primarily involved in transportation related technical intelligence. He served tours in the Middle and Near East, Africa and the Far East. After retiring from active military duty, Colonel Licord served as a transportation industry specialist with a major consulting firm, mostly on projects in various oversea areas and later was senior economist with the Interstate Commerce Commission until his retirement in 1980.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30am on Friday, December 16th 2011 at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 46639 Algonkian Parkway, Potomac Falls, Virginia. Graveside services with full military honors will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA on Monday, February 13th 2012 at 3:00pm. Those that wish to attend should arrive at the administration building on the grounds of Arlington by 2:30.
