Dr. Frederick Paul Feder Jr.'s Obituary
Our loving father, Frederick Paul Feder, Jr. has passed away at the age of 89 due to natural
causes in Lansdowne, Virginia. He joins his dear wife of 63 years, and our mother, Elsie Veigel
Feder at Moreland Memorial Park Cemetery for eternity in Baltimore, Maryland–where he was
born as the son of Frederick Paul Feder, Sr. and Josephine Palmer Feder.
Fred and Elsie met as sweetheart graduates of Towson High School in 1952. He graduated as a
Phi Gamma Delta from Johns Hopkins University in 1956 where Fred played varsity lacrosse
and soccer for the Blue Jays–who honored the 50th anniversary of his lacrosse team at halftime
on Homewood Field in 2006.
Known for the kindness in his heart, a good natured soul and dry sense of humor, our Dad
touched thousands of people’s lives as a medical doctor of urology. Graduating from the JHU
School of Medicine in 1960, Fred completed his medical residency at Strong Memorial Hospital
in Rochester, New York. Fred and Elsie then relocated to Altus, Oklahoma where he served as a
flight surgeon and US Air Force Captain for the Strategic Air Command.
Our many friends and neighbors remember Dr. Feder as a prominent physician and surgeon at
St. Edwards and Sparks Hospitals in Fort Smith, Arkansas where our family lived from 1968 to
2009. Fred loved spending time with his family outdoors, traveling, skiing, golfing, boating,
attending sporting events, collecting and driving sports cars.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Frederick leaves behind his first son, Scott
Frederick and his wife Elena, twin grandsons Mark Frederick and Alexander Scott of Ashburn,
Virginia–where Fred resided with Elsie at Potomac Green and most recently at Hessler Heights;
daughter Stacey and her husband David Hoover, grandsons Stuart Palmer and Philip Gordon of
Foster City, California; second son Todd Cameron Feder and his wife Cristina and grandsons
Matthew Robert and Nicolas Todd of Houston, Texas; close Wallace family relatives: Richard
Wallace of St. John’s Florida, Linda and William Fosdick of Lake Anna, Virginia, Kathy Wallace
of Lanexa, Virginia, Gail and Greg Gillis of St. Petersburg, Florida, Bill Wallace and Melinda
Bihn-Wallace of San Francisco, California.
We were so fortunate to have Fred as our father, grandfather and patriarch of the Feder family.
He is missed immensely by all of us and by many other people who came to know him as a
caring urologist physician and friendly neighbor within the community. “May the soul of our dear
departed rest in eternal peace, we love you Dad!”
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to the Johns Hopkins University
