Grace Anne Smith's Obituary
Grace Anne Kearney Smith, 81 of Ashburn, Virginia, passed on Tuesday, November 26, 2019, at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Born July 31, 1938, she was the daughter of John Kearney and Helen Farrell Kearney. Anne is preceded in death by her parents, her brother (Edward Kearney) and her sister (Mary Theresa Grimesey).
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Wilbur H. Smith (Smitty), as well as daughters Carol Lauffenburger (Jack), Ann Marie Jackson (Jamie), Peggy Bokulic (Jay), and Laura Penny (Billy). She was blessed by the love of her nephews Bob Grimesey (Carol), John Grimesey (Debbie), Mike Grimesey (Beth), and niece Noreen Hill, all of whom she loved as her own. Her life was filled with love and laughter as she delighted in building incredible relationships with her 20 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nephews, nieces and godchildren.
Anne and Smitty spent over 40 years raising their family in Springfield, Virginia, before moving to Ashburn in 2004 to be closer to their daughters and families.
Anyone who knew Anne knew of her love for Jesus. She spent many years pouring His love into everyone she met. She led numerous women’s bible studies throughout her life and mentored many young moms.
She will be remembered for her sharp Irish wit, contagious laugh, incredible hospitality and her deep devotion to the Lord, her family and her friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, December 3, 2019, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, Virginia.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, at Loudoun Funeral Chapel.
Interment will be held privately in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
