Harry "Hap" Lloyd Davis' Obituary
Harry Lloyd “Hap” Davis, 75, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026 at his home in Leesburg, VA after a 5 year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Harry was born in Fort Meade, MD on August 9, 1950. He was the oldest of three children. His father was career military and the family lived in locations from New Mexico to Alaska to New Jersey and places in between.
Harry attended the University of Colorado, Boulder on an ROTC scholarship where he majored in Middle Eastern and African Studies. He did a year abroad in Cairo, Egypt. After graduating he served seven years in the United States Army, Military Intelligence where he achieved the rank of Captain.
After the Army, Harry worked at Merrill Lynch in their Washington, D.C. office. It was the beginning of a 46 year career as a Stockbroker and Financial Investment Advisor. In 1987 he joined the Leesburg office of Wheat First Butcher Singer which over time became Wells Fargo Advisors. For 39 years Harry was a staple of the Leesburg business community often seen walking to his favorite downtown coffee shop.
Harry was one of the lucky ones whose job was his hobby and his hobby was his job. Besides a passion for the stock market he had a keen interest in geography, history and art. He loved to travel. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed playing cards with family and friends.
Harry was a devoted son, brother, husband and father. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary, daughter Emily Davis, son Patrick Davis, his sisters, Chris Gleason and Pam Davis and many cousins and dear friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Harry and Phyllis Davis, and his brother-in-law, David Gleason.
His generosity, humor and brilliance will be missed by all who knew him.
The Davis family will receive guests for a Memorial Visitation on Monday April 13, 2026, from 4:00PM to 6:00PM at Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cir. SE, Leesburg, VA 20176.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Saint John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive, Leesburg, VA 20176. Interment will follow at St. John Catholic Church Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
Flowers will be accepted but due to allergies please refrain from choosing arrangements with lilies. Flowers should be sent to the Funeral Home or Saint Johns and not to the Davis home.
In lieu of flowers please consider donating in Harry’s honor to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, the Franciscan Missions or the Central Union Mission.
