Haywood Stanley Hackney's Obituary
Haywood Stanley Hackney
December 13, 1926 - July 12, 2015
Leesburg, VA
Haywood passed away at 4:30 pm Sunday July 12, 2015 at Blue Ridge Hospice in Winchester VA.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Elise Finch Hackney of Leesburg, VA; a son H. Stanley Hackney, Jr. of Mobile, AL, a daughter, Carolyn Hackney Ziegler of Leesburg, VA, and a granddaughter, Jaclyn Ziegler of New York, NY.
Haywood was born in Scotland Neck, NC, the oldest son of Minnie Hackney Osborne and the senior Hackney. Haywood served in World War II in the Italian front and as a reserve during the Korean conflict. He was long associated with Taylor Biscuit Company of Cary, NC during its business life, and from 1947 expanded that company's products to Northern Virginia and our Nation's Capital.
In later years, his work lead him to one of his old interest: cars. He was a top salesman for Ourisman Dodge of Alexandria, VA for over 30 years. With his sharp dry wit, the world has lost one of the "great generation's" favorite sons.
Services and interment to be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church 6048 Mount Pleasant Road, Bailey, NC 27807.
