Herb was a lifelong friend. He and I graduated from HL High School together. We roomed together the first year in college at Ferris. Herb, Shirley and I had great fun together in High School . Herb will be deeply missed. I extend my deepest sympathy to all his family. I will miss him at our class reunions.

Carole,
Herb was one of my roommates during Beast Barracks, the first, traumatic, eight weeks of our lives as cadets. Without him, I would not have made it. He was an inspiration to a young, naive, 17-year-older. We became 'buddies' for the rest of plebe year. I also posted a eulogy on our class website. May he rest in peace.

Dear Carole,
We are writing this to express deep sorrow for your loss.
We knew Herb for a very long time and will always remember him. He was the kindest hearted friend that we ever knew. In fact, we shall always be thankful to God for the loving friend that he blessed us with. We shall never again see a happier person than Herb. We feel that your loss is a loss to all the people who knew him.
Herb was not just a great friend but was also a person who taught us to be happy and joyful. He always stood by us in all the times.
Civilization is a place where men rise and fall like the winter wheat. The dawn brings new rays every day yet there are some people who rise every day and bring to life, cherished memories, teachings and faith that help us sail the journey of life.
May God bless his soul and complete all his wishes. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we are sharing the burden of this great grief.
May God bless you and Herb’s soul.
With love and sympathy,

Carole, I was glad to meet you at our last '65 reunion. I could tell right then that you made Herb proud and happy. And vice-versa, I know.
Herb and I spent two tours together at Ft. Bliss as young lieuntenants and we had lots of fun together. In the first case, we were preparing for Viet Nam and, in the second tour, we had just returned.
I know you will miss him....... our prayers will be with you and all of his extended family.
