Herman Ambers, 93, of Paeonian Springs, VA, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2016 . He was born on January 8, 1923, in Lucketts,VA . He was the first son of the late Charles F. Ambers and Myrtle V. Ambers. Served in the Army du Read Obituary
We met Herman shortly after moving to Loudoun County in -93 and wondered if he would like to help us maintain our property. He did so for about 20 years, always with a smile and we were always happy with the results. He was a nice and kind person to have around and continued until he turned 91, when he wanted to quit. He will always be part of the good memories we had of living in Virginia. Our condolences to his family.

There are no words that can express how it feels to lose someone as special as Papa Herman. He was indeed one of a kind: the kindest, most gentle man I've ever known. He always had lots of jokes up his sleeve that made me laugh long after I'd heard them. There are so many wonderful memories of that I will carry in my heart forever. Family, let you're grieving be short but your memories long. I love you all, especially my best friend Jay. I am here for you whenever you need me. Thank you for sharing Papa Herman with me for so many years, and I thank God for the opportunity to be a part of this family. The last kiss he gave me while in the Rehab Center was his mark on me that I will cherish until I see him again. Family, WE WILL SEE HIM AGAIN........AMEN & AMEN

I never saw Herman without a smile on his face. He was always very kind and helpful to me. He will me miss.
Herman Ambers was an amazing human being and beloved neighbor. I knew him from the time that I moved into Paeonian Springs 28 years. I never saw him without a smile and he was always ready with a joke or to tease you.
I loved to hear him splitting wood at 5:30 in the morning or looking out my window in the early dawn hours to see him decked out in white hooded sweats - getting ready for a run - at age 80 plus. He was an example to us all.
He dearly loved his wife Jean - and to spend time with the two of them was certainly a treasure for my husband and myself.
He will be dearly missed.
