James McVey Compton's Obituary
JAMES MCVEY COMPTON, 91, of Potomac Falls, Virginia passed on Tuesday, October 18, 2022.
Jim was born Wednesday, June 17, 1931 in St. Louis, Missouri. He attended Washington University, St. Louis, MO from 1948-1952.
Jim lived in Arlington, VA, from 1977-1996. He was a founding member of Falcons Landing, where he has lived from 1996 to present.
Jim retired from the United States Army as a Colonel in 1978, and continued his service at the Pentagon from 1980 to 1993.
He is predeceased by his wife, Carol Turner Compton. He is survived by his step daughter, Margaret Turner Beatty, step sons, Jeffrey Clayton Turner and Robert Paul Turner, and many beloved cousins and family.
Graveside services, with military honors, will be held on November 9 at 11:00 am CST by Oakes and Nichols Funeral Home, Columbia, TN, Rose Hill Cemetery, 219 Cemetery St, Columbia, TN 38401.

A memorial service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at Falcons Landing in Sterling, VA, on June 16, 2023, at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Falcon's Landing Benevolent Fund, 20522 Falcons Landing Circle, Sterling, VA 20165.
