I cried when I heard the news, Jim was my friend for 35yrs. I can honestly say it is my only sad memory of Jim, and probably not a good one for him either. I have one of him wearing an ear ring, that was just a weird memory though. I have one of him crashing through the toll gate at 60mph, his pass didn't work that morning. Most of my memories are more in that line.
I called him "Captn' Whitehurst" for the last 10 or 20 years, he called me "annual" as I preferred things a little more clean and orderly. He really should have followed my lead more in that department....although he probably wanted me to be a hunter, so I guess we'll call it a draw.
Jim was a unique character, un-a-que as he'd like to say, and an important character in my life. We had a common, un-spoken respect for each other. He was twice my age and twice my height when we met, I've probably shrunk some since but I've gained on the age part. I"ll really be gaining on him now, we'll be caught up before you know it. So Captn" Whitehurst, if you're reading this, give me a little while, I'll get there when I can. You can buy the beer but I'm buying you a cooler, you haven't cleaned that thing out since 1947....
