Dear Candy, Les, and Karen - I was very sad to learn of the death of your mom. My siblings and I were all together over the Memorial Day weekend and we started reminiscing about our memories of her. We all had different remembrances, of course, but mine were mostly of being at the old log cabin with her, when my girls were little (about 33 years ago!). We all had such a good time! Your mom and dad slept right next to Gil and I on the porch.... your parents had the big bed and Gil and I on the bunks. Your mom would let out a whoop every time a bat flew overhead, and your dad would laugh so hard he would get the rest of the cabin laughing - and that was a LOT of people.... both of my parents, plus both of my girls. We had a great time. In fact, all my memories of both your parents are good.
As you know, back in 1980 Gil and I bought your mom's section of (originally) Gramma Tubbs' land on Kimball Lake. We have been enjoying that land ever since, and my kids and grandkids hopefully will keep it for future generations. We think of your mom every time someone makes a comment of how lucky we are to have been able to hang onto a part of the Tubbs' lakefront.
Please accept my deepest sympathy for your loss. My mom shares in your sadness, too, for the loss of her sister. Karen, thank you so much for calling mom last weekend and giving her a chance to communicate with your mom, even for just a few moments. It meant a lot.
My best to you all,
Jan Hegge Sikora
