Jean Douglas Costello's Obituary
Mrs. Jean Douglas Costello, 80, of Waterford, VA, passed away at home in the care of loved ones on Tuesday, March 13, 2012.
Jean was born on April 18, 1931 in Arlington, VA. She was the daughter of the late Everett Lee Douglas and the late Virginia Elizabeth Sanderson Douglas.
She was predeceased by her husband Thurman O. Costello, Jr. , son Paul Douglas Costello and sister Barbara D. Carr.
Jean graduated from Leesburg High School. She then went on to graduate from James Madison University. She worked in the public schools in Loudoun County as a teacher for many years. Once she started her family she devoted her time to raising her children on her family’s farm in Waterford. She volunteered at many school and church events during this time as well as being very involved with 4-H Club with her children and husband.
Jean worked for Loudoun Mutual Insurance Company for many years later in her life before retiring . She spent her retirement days involved with the church, the Lovettsville-Waterford Ruritan Club, as well as enjoying time with her sister and her friends she dubbed “The Lunch Bunch“.
Jean was a member of Catoctin Presbyterian Church and continued her family’s service and devotion to the church throughout the years by serving on many committees and by volunteering herself for service when needed. She sang in the church choir and was a member of the Woman’s Group.
Jean is survived by her two daughters: Karen Joyce Frye of Waterford and Doris Ann Dixon of Leesburg; grandchildren Jason Lee Frye of Waterford, Christina Ann Jablonski of South Riding, Adam Jonathan Hardy of Leesburg and Paul David Dixon of Leesburg.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 6 to 9 at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel located at 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 16, 2012, at 11 am at Catoctin Presbyterian Church located at 15565 High Street, Waterford, VA 20197.
Interment will follow in Leesburg Union Cemetery, Leesburg, VA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capital Hospice, 209 Gibson St. NW, #202, Leesburg, VA 20176 and to Evercare Hospice, 12018 Sunrise Valley Dr. , #400, Reston, VA 20191.
