Jimmy Charles Jones' Obituary
JIMMY CHARLES JONES, 87, of Lansdowne, Virginia passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
Born December 1, 1937, in Monahans, Texas, Jimmy was the son of Martin and Helen Jones and had nine siblings.
Jimmy leaves many to cherish his memory including his beloved wife of 62 years, Sylva, their son, Anthony, daughter-in-law Heather, and two grandchildren, Madison and Ethan.
Jimmy grew up in Pampa, Texas and served for over 20 years in the United States Marine Corps. He served several deployments aboard ships in the Pacific, two tours of duty in Europe, and one tour in Vietnam before retiring from the Marines as a Captain. Following his career in the military, Jimmy worked as a computer systems engineer in Kalispell, Montana and then later in Phoenix, Arizona.
As much as Jimmy excelled in his professional life, he embraced retirement with equal passion. He and his wife, Sylva, enjoyed time with family and friends, traveled the country, and visited with close friends in Germany.
Jimmy battled heart disease for most of his life as a result of exposure to Agent Orange in Vietnam. At the age of 62, he received a heart transplant and continued to live life to the fullest. He benefitted greatly from dedicated medical professionals at the Inova Transplant Center as well as the care and encouragement from his wife, Sylva.
In lieu of flowers, any desired contributions can be made to the Inova Schar Heart and Vascular Institute, https://join.inova.org/campaign, in honor of Jimmy’s 25 years as a heart transplant patient. 100% of your donation goes directly to the program.
