John Gregory's Obituary
John Edward Gregory, 39, of Leesburg (since 2005) died on June 3rd, 2013 in Celebration, Florida. John was born September 21st, 1973 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He grew up in Northern Virginia and graduated from Potomac Senior High School in Dumfries with the class of 1993. John lived in London, England from 2001-2003 and was able to travel the world for six months before settling back in the United States in 2004. John loved to help others and that showed in the way he lived his life. As a young man he was a volunteer fire fighter with Dumfries Triangle Volunteer Fire Department; during Hurricane Katrina he worked with the American Red Cross; and during his illness he raised money for the National Brain Tumor Society. John was captain of Team PMA (Positive Mental Attitude) for The Race for Hope on May 5th, 2013 in Washington, DC. His team placed 8th in money raised for the National Brain Tumor Society.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 10 years: Aileen Laurencio Gregory and two children: Adison Lauren and Alexander James Gregory all of Leesburg; his parents: O. Henry Gregory of Bethesda, Maryland and Jeanette House Gregory of Dumfries; his siblings: James O. Gregory of Leesburg, Elizabeth G. Kurila of Ashburn; his in laws: Guadalupe Laurencio of Leesburg and Dr. Isagani Laurencio of Cumberland, Maryland and many friends and family members.
A memorial visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 12th 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Cr. SE in Leesburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am on Thursday, June 13th at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, 101 Oakcrest Manor Drive, NE, Leesburg. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Because of John’s battle against brain cancer and melanoma, in lieu of flowers the family would like to request gifts be made in memory of John Gregory to Capital Caring.
