Jeanne Mccarthy
In the early 1960s we were lucky enough to be neighbors of John and the large Thornell family. A family of 11 children ourselves, we lived near them in a cluster of color-coded homes at Williams AFB outside of Chandler, AZ. Col. Thornell (II) had a storied place in the lore of post-WWII heroes and he was a striking figure as he passed by at home or in church--as were all of the family (and I believe a protective and beloved dog that monitored their front yard). Our eldest, Jerry, and John were classmates at Seton, stellar students, and friends, and remained so after reconnecting in California, joining up in recent years for a few golf tournaments. It is with sadness that we acknowledge his passing. May memories bring comfort to his family. He and all of you remain a part of our memories and thoughts.
With prayers and sympathy, The McCarthy Family
