Birth date: Jun 17, 1952 Death date: Jan 18, 2019
Joseph “Joe” Franklin Shry passed away on January 18, 2019 from a heart attack. Born June 17, 1952 in Leesburg, Virginia, Joe is survived by his wife and love of his life Joann, his daughter Ariel, his sisters Connie Isaacs and Am Read Obituary

Joe and I grew up together living less than a mile a part, we went to school together and have been friends since elementary school. We were always together hunting, fishing , playing cards or just talking. When we were young we were dubbed Huck and Tom from the adventures of Huckleberry Finn. Joe was Huck and I was Tom, we could have written our own series based on our adventures. We were quite the outdoorsmen. Seldom did we spend time in-doors especially growing up on the Potomac River and living in the country with plenty of land to roam. A little bit of me died last Friday, he was a true friend and one of the most intelligent self taught people I ever knew. As my grandson says about me, "he knew a little about everything and the most random subjects". I know that when we were young we fought numerous make believe battles, caught world famous fish, and took record animals. We invented card games and outdoor games. Well maybe not all of our adventures were true but we sure convinced a lot of people. I am going to miss ole Huck and there will never be a day goes by that I don't think about him and cherish the times we had together. RIP HUCK you did us proud.
Our heart goes out to you Joann, Ariel and the entire family. John and I got to know Joe through family picnics with our niece Rosie (his previous wife). We were very close to Joe. He was our computer guru, our nephew, and our beloved friend.
Many good times were spent at our Mexican restaurant Montezuma's. The picture we posted showed him with our daughter and her family. When we all were leaving Montezuma's one afternoon, our daughter Jo Anne said to Justine, "Say goodbye to Joe and Rosie." Well, Justine ran over and wrapped her arms around Joe's legs and gave him a big long hug. You should have seen the smile on Joe's face.
When you're introduced as family -- you are just that. Now we added Joann to our family - a wonderful addition. And Ariel -- you are still family, too. Never forget that you are both loved.
