Judith Burgess Ready, 85, of Ashburn, VA, passed away on October 27, 2024, after a courageous journey with dementia. Throughout her battle, she remained surrounded by the love of her family, who will forever cherish her memory.
Born to Carl and Jane Burgess, Judith was a devoted mother to John (Dorothy) Ready of Centreville, VA, and Jennifer (Kelly) Koonce of Herndon, VA. She took great pride in being a cherished grandmother to Caroline Li (Jeff), Emily Ready, Jack Ready, Hunter Koonce, and Hudson Koonce. Judith was preceded in death by her brother, James, and her ex-husband, John K. Ready, but leaves behind a loving extended family and a wide circle of dear friends.

Her passion for helping others led her to become a certified real estate agent, serving the Jacksonville, FL, and Virginia Beach, VA markets for over 25 years. As a devoted Navy wife for more than three decades, she embraced the adventure of military life, forging lasting friendships and giving back through her volunteer work with the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society.
Judith’s spirit truly shone in her retirement, particularly as a vibrant member of the “Silver Tappers” dance group in Virginia Beach. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends, creating countless cherished memories.
Following a private inurnment ceremony, family and friends are invited to join a celebration of life reception which will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 300 36th Street, Virginia Beach, VA, from 1-3 pm on Saturday, November 9th.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, an organization that she personally supported over the years. Judith's legacy of love, generosity, and joy will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
