Alt;hough I did not know Kat;hleen except as an infant, I grew up with Carol. We were play mates for many years and then when we married we had our children at the same times. I join so many in sadness to know that Kathy has passed. I remember babysitting for the Duffy kids in Luxembourg. When Pat and Carol went to Spain on vacation, I was in for a fun time. I can’t say that it was Kathy’s idea, but we were all full of mischief and wanted to see if the jello pieces would stick to the ceiling. Well, they did very nicely! Then we had to remove all traces before Pat and Carol returned, and that took some time. And I was rewarded with Lladros for having so much fun! That was always a great memory for me as my career went on and I retired, and now it’s a very special memory of Kathy. My thoughts are with you all as you adjust and carry the memories forward.

We found this picture of Kathy from the time she spent working on the House Banking Committee. We guess the date to be 1990, but Kathy began working there in 1987. Kathy and I worked together for the next 26 years and remained friends after Nancy and I retired. We shared many twists and turns in life in these years related to both our professional and personal lives. I was blessed to have had such a selfless, caring and kind person to share so much with.

The first time I met Kathy was when I traveled to Washington DC from my home in Harrisburg, PA, for my first job interview with the FDIC. I felt like I was way out of my league - a small town girl trying to land a job in the big city. The first face I remember seeing when I stepped into the conference room for my interview was Kathy's. I was so nervous and unsure of myself until I saw Kathy's smiling face. At that moment I felt calm and confident. I worked alongside Kathy for eight years at the FDIC as her colleague and direct report. I literally learned how to do my job effectively through Kathy's patient guidance. I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to know Kathy. She made a lasting impression on me and has been an amazing supervisor. I will be forever grateful that God put Kathy into my life. Her light will live on in all of those that knew her.
