Sorry to read about your daughter's passing in the local newspaper. Kathy's grandmother Evelyn always enjoyed and was extremely proud of your children and had a large smile on her face whenever she talked about Kathy, Mary Kay and Donny whenever I visited Bruinswick with my mother Bonnie Huffer Umbaugh. Sending condolences on behalf of the Huffer family. My mother Bonnie, along with the other Huffers in Heaven, I am sure greated Kathy at those great pearly gates. I went to Loudoun Valley however I did not get to know Kathy. My daughter did though. She loved Kathy. My daughter worked at the nursing home where Kathy was a resident. Kathy showed my daughter Laura what it is to be strong and what quality of life is. Laura couldn't wait to get to work to see Kathy's smile and she loved to dote on Kathy by giving her foot massages, etc... Thanks for sharing your family member with mine. She sure made a wonderful impression on a girl so young.

My heart dropped as I read about Kathy's passing in the "Leesburg Today" . She certainly was a blessing while I was working at the park. Always had time to send a smile, share her compassionate heart, share her love for horses and not mentioning the sweets at her desk to brighten ones day. I can only imagine the hearts that are broken as she touched so many lives. Praying that the messages you receive bring unity, love and peace to your hearts.

Roel, I learned of the sad news through Gini. Kathy was such a sweet soul and I will always look back on those times at your home in Sterling with a big smile on my face. You both welcomed a lot of friends into your circle and really helped me stay grounded after I graduated from high school. Your family is in our prayers. Ken Shelton
Kathy will be missed greatly. Kendall and I will miss her infectious laugh the most. You couldn't be around Kathy without smiling. Roel, we hope you can take some comfort in knowing that she is with the lord and is no longer sick or in pain. You are in out thoughts and prayers.

At your service today we were invited up to share a memory or thought about you. One that comes to my mind is the awesome parties/cook outs that you and Roel used to throw at your house. I always looked forward to those and they are one of the memories I remember most about my childhood.(your swimming pool, Aunt Barbs homemade ice cream etc) I hope your having a great big party up in heaven with family and friends that have passed on. Such sad news! The year I lived with Kathy was also the year she met Roel. Needless to say, it was a great year. I will always remember her kindness, the many laughs we shared, and all her love for her friends and family.
