Dick was one of my best friends in this world. He hired me to be Senator Gale McGee's press secretary and was my political mentor. We shared a love for golf and for the West. We compared notes on the world on a fairly regular basis by phone and e-mail. I will miss him greatly. Arlene is a real hero in caring for Dick for many years, and I'm sure she added years to his life. My sympathies to her and their daughters.

Dick and I have been friends since he was a reporter for the Powell Tribune in Wyoming and I a business education teacher at Powell High School. Thus began our long, mutual journey of working for and with Senator Gale McGee, the last true hope for Democrats in Wyoming. Dick was an integral part of that effort, and we worked long hours and shared many memories. We continued our friendship by telephone the last few years, and I shall miss those pithy comments and bursts of laughter over share memories. My heart goes out to Arlene and his daughters.
