I have far too many memories to share about Leo but I want to tell you about Santa. Santa lived in Leo. There is a neighborhood grandson who saw Santa leaving Leo's house and he believes Santa lived there. Little did this boy know he does. Leo spent years helping Santa by delivering packages and visiting with kids who needed a little hope at the holidays. For the last 3 weeks of his life Leo was on a ventilator and was unable to be shaved. The night before he passed he had the ventilator removed and we were finally able to see his face. He had a beautiful head of white hair growing and a wonderful white beard. I scratched his chin and told him that he could be a great Santa this year. He pulled his chin up and grinned. Little did I know he was going to be "my" Santa this year. The spirit of Santa is Leo. Leo is Santa, Santa is Leo. He collected Santa figurine's and by the grace of God Kevin received many of Leo's Santa's. Because, even as an adult, I believe in Santa, this year on Christmas eve I will be asking my own personal Santa for miracles. I firmly believe he is living at the North Pole now. Rest my Santa, you have worked and fought hard. I do hope to see you on Christmas Eve, I will wait up. I miss you and love you.
