Leo Alfred Morin's Obituary
Leo Alfred Morin, age 80 of Ashburn, Virginia passed away on Friday, November 8, 2013, at Prince William Hospital in Manassas, Virginia after suffering a spinal cord injury in 2010 and battling severe infections.
Leo was born Monday, August 28, 1933, in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. He was the only son of the late Fred and Rose Morin.
He served his country for over 20 years, as a multiple tour Vietnam Veteran in the United States Army, earning many distinguished honors include a Bronze Star and multiple Silver Stars. Mr. Morin went on to work for the federal government as a Management Specialist with the Department of Defense until 1999 and enjoyed his semi-retirement position as a Hospitality Manager with Hampton Inn in Leesburg.
Mr. Morin was an active volunteer in his community, serving as Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Good Samaritan Council #6175 and helping to establish the Helping Hands Volunteer Organization of Potomac Green in Ashburn, VA which supports Fischer House, Loudoun Abused Womens Shelter and the Salvation Army.
He leaves his family to cherish his memory including his wife of 52 years, Patricia Walters Morin of Ashburn, VA, his daughter, Suzette Armstrong and her husband Brian of Leesburg, VA; Kevin Morin and his wife Rhonda of Ashburn, VA; and 5 grandchildren Mark, Lauren and Emily Armstrong, and Janice and Jennifer Morin.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Mass for Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday at St. Theresa Catholic Church located at 21371 St. Theresa Lane Ashburn, Virginia 20147.
Interment services will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Helping Hands, checks payable to POTOMAC GREEN; mailed to Helping Hands C/O Potomac Green, 44499 Oakmont Manor Drive, Ashburn, VA 20147.
