She was also predeceased by her sisters {and their spouses}, Pat Fraser (Col. Danny) and Betty Chesak (Col. Ken, Sr.), who were not only her siblings but also her closest friends.
Mary is survived by her five children, Terrance W. Woodworth (Hilary) of Ashburn, VA, Mary R. Russell (Jim) of Kihei, HI, George B. Woodworth, Jr. (Debby) of Lamar, MO, Virginia A. Mary's love for her family was unparalleled, and her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
A devoted Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church in El Paso, Texas; Mary was a woman of deep faith. In this faith she found profound solace and purpose. Evidence of her faith was demonstrated through her involvement in church activities, Bible studies, teaching Sunday School, visiting the sick, and delivering meals to “shut-ins” with the organization, Meals on Wheels. Her faith created in her a servant’s heart; full of kindness, compassion, and always willing to help anyone in need. She also dedicated her time and energy to volunteer work, including her involvement with the Red Cross and William Beaumont Hospital, where she provided comfort and support to those facing challenging times. Mary was an avid reader, devouring books of all genres. Her most cherished reading, (beside the Bible) was history, especially British Monarchy history. She had an intense fascination with ancient castles and the story told by stained glass windows in churches, and enjoyed visiting them with her husband when he was alive.
A service to honor Mary's life and celebrate her accomplishments will be held at Ft Bliss National Cemetery, 5200 Fred Wilson Ave., El Paso, Texas on November 2, 2023 at 11:00am.
