Every time that I go through airport security I think of Michele. Why? Because one of my favorite conversations with Michele was about security socks. She was mortified to learn that I would walk through airport security without socks after they forced me to remove my shoes. Over the course of the next 15 minutes we laughed until we cried as Michele explained how she is always ready with her "security socks." She could slip them on before TSA and slide them right back into her purse after surviving security.
I will remember Michele as funny and passionate. I know she loved her family, adored her friends, committed to her work and was a huge fan of cleanliness. She was a joy to work with and I'm very happy to have had the opportunity to know her for two years during my fellowship with EPA.
To Michele's friends and families, I am sorry for your loss. May your memories of Michele offer you comfort during this difficult time. The next time you're at the airport, I hope you have TSA pre-check so you can keep your shoes on. But, more importantly, I hope you think of security socks and smile.
All my Love,
