Michele Ann Curreri's Obituary
Michele Ann Curreri passed peacefully away on Sunday, July 7, 2019 after a short but fierce battle with pancreatic cancer. Born on October 29, 1964, Michele arrived in this world early perhaps knowing there would be a lot to do and very little time in which to get it done. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael Curreri of Leesburg, VA, her beloved parents Michael and Angela Guarneiri of Bethany Beach, DE, her cherished sister, Lisa Guarneiri of Bethesda, MD, and her much loved mother-in-law, Helen Curreri of Wayne, NJ. Also mourning her loss are Christopher Curreri, Paul Curreri and Theresa Curreri, longtime friends and colleagues at the US EPA.
Michele grew up happily in Accokeek, Maryland. She attended Gwynn Park High School and Salisbury University, graduating in 1986 with a degree in political science. Always small but mighty, she got busy making the world a much better place both personally and professionally.
Michele lived a life devoted to public service. From her first day as a Pathways intern while still in college, to her last work day nearly 30 years later, Michele was the embodiment of servant leadership. During her career at the US Environmental Protection Agency, Michele helped establish several premiere programs that have had nationwide benefits and impacts. Earning the deep respect and affection of her peers, managers and professional colleagues along the way.
Michele enjoyed traveling with her husband of 14 years and relaxing at the beach whenever she could.
Michele’s keen mind and bountiful soul remained until the end, giving one last enduring gift to those she leaves behind. None of us will ever see the sun rise over the ocean or a truly classic handbag again without remembering her with a smile.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donation be made in Michele’s honor to the Lustgarten Foundation at https://www.lustgarten.org/donate/
The family requests Business Causal Attire for those who plan to attend the visitation.
