How to best put this ... I looked forward to, and LOVED, every moment I was blessed to share with my big, booming friend Paul.
I feel so sad to no longer be able to speak with Paul on this earth. And feel so reassured I'll see him again.
Paul's playful and direct presence filled every room; ALWAYS fascinating to observe others' reactions to his provocative nature, as well as my own. What I loved most was reacting to his, let's say "easily-audible" voice and "twinkle-in-his-eyes" declarations. Or his intriguing recount of important memories or playing the most exuberant Santa ever.
Or the moment that will live in many hearts – his toast at Samantha’s and Eric's wedding. I expect to never again hear a more heart-felt, grounded, inspirational message.
As I write, my Nebraska visor is on and Big Red Blackshirts shot glass is full, as they will be during Paul's Mass (surely a robust brandy); as well during many grateful, reflective moments in future. Cheers my friend!
With LOVE for Paul,
Bill MacMartin
