Stuart Allan MacCaffray Jr.'s Obituary
Stuart was born November 14, 1943 in Boston, Massachusetts. His father was a Commander in the U.S. Navy, which allowed Stuart to live all over the country, and most memorably, in Hawaii. He graduated from high school in 1959 from Radford High in Honolulu, HI. He then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Northeastern University in Boston, Mass. His first teaching job was at an elementary school in Loudoun County. Stuart went on to teach at a number of schools in Fairfax County and the Northern Virginia region for more than 30 years. In 1990, Stuart obtained his Master’s degree in Education from Virginia Tech and transitioned into administration. He served as an Assistant Principal at Lake Braddock High School in Burke, VA where he eventually retired in 1999, and thereafter went on to work as a librarian at Mountain View Alternative School in Centreville, VA. Stuart had a passion for education, supporting his students, children and grandchildren in pursuing higher education.
As a life-long learner he loved to read and could have as many as three books going at a time.
Stuart’s hobbies included collecting stamps and toy trains. He loved animals; especially his beloved Jack Russel Terriers Angie, Fiona and Gaylean.
Stuart was quick to offer words of encouragement and praise to his family during trying times, and his love and support will be greatly missed. The family will hold a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Loudoun County Adult Day Center at 16501 Meadow View Court, Leesburg, Virginia, which provided outstanding support to Stuart in his struggle with Alzheimers.
