Thomas Lewis Sims, 53 of Ashburn, VA passed away peacefully on Monday, November 21, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer. Tom was born on Monday, May 19, 1958 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the son of Margaret Brown Sims of Whe Read Obituary

What can you say? Incredible Parents - Tom and Kitty were incredible people. When I thought of Ashburn, Community, Dedication, and Love for their neighbor, it was easy to see all of those things and more through Tom and Kitty. I truly admire Tom and Kitty.
I remember so many talks I had with Tom at the ballfields. He was always smiling and always had a way of making everything positive.
I am truly heartbroken over the passing of Tom and Kitty. It is truly an honor to know them both.
What many may not remember is that Tom started his softball coaching career by coaching the Ashburn Presbyterian Church coed team. He organized and coached a ragtag group that would play night games in Sterling and Luckets while Allie and Brianna, toddlers at the time, played in the dirt in the dugout. Tom pitched, Kitty often caught or played right field, and somebody on the team almost always got hurt. Tom kept everybody smiling and laughing and he was the one player on the team that could hit home runs over the fence. We were young couples, enjoying each others company, having fun as the night fog would roll under the field lights. Tom and Kitty brought the joy and friendship then, and that friendship will will never be forgotten.

Your mom and your dad were both amazing and we feel incredibly priveleged and grateful for having known them. Your dad coached our daughter Grace and she learned just as much from him on the field as off...because like your mom he led by example. We'll never forget his wisdom, gentle spirit or his fierce courage. Thank you for sharing him with us. We will continue to keep your family in our thoughts and prayers.

For example, he re-defined the meaning of friendship in competitive sports as being more than what color uniform you wear. Here's to you, Tom. We're on your team--always.
