Walter Ripley Devine, 51, died in a tragic accident on October 25. He is survived by his son John, daughter Lotus, and wife Claire of Memphis, Tennessee, as well as his siblings, Anne Devine and Donald Devine Jr. (Nancy) of Leesb Read Obituary
I can not believe it has been more than a year already Mr. Devine. To this day you still inspire me to achieve my goals, I am extremely grateful to have you in my life when I needed someone to talk to and help me discover the path to my future. I wish I could talk to you one more time. I still use my typewriter for all my drafts.
Happy birthday Mr. Devine, we still miss you more than words and I still remember how much you loved to use wild accents and sit in that crazy tall chair. Thinking of you.
Walter, angel that you are, although you will be missed, I know you are still shining brightly.
Haven't been in touch with Walter for years. Kept trying to find him on facebook, but failed. So sorry to hear this. He was a bright spot in my life and is remembered fondly.
Mr. Devine was my favorite teacher in school. Me and him have the same birthday and went through the same health problems as babies. So sad to just now hear about him passing away. Prayers going out to his family. R.I.P Mr. Walter Devine<3
My condolences to the Devine family. Walter and I met on our Junior Year in Paris program. What a wonderful year. Of course, Walter arrived on the program already with an impeccable accent and a French flair while the rest of us were just getting our bearings. France suited Walter. He embraced the life in France and was such a gregarious and wonderful character. There was always a Walter story or adventure. We will all miss him greatly. A light has gone out in this world and a star now shines in the sky. As the French say, its not goodbye but see you soon. Kathleen

You really helped us celebrate his life and to provide wonderful memorabilia for his son John and daughter Lotus. Your warm letters are a treasure for them, and for us too!
Rest in peace my dear sweet brother, knowing we will carry on in expressing the kindness and warmth that you unfailingly showed us.
I ran into Walt in the grocery store a few months ago and we chatted forever. It was always great to see him and catch up. We will miss you .
I worked with Walter in two schools. He was a lovely person and will be missed.
Walter was the great friend of my early youth and we were the best of friends until he left to do high school at Andover. During this time, which was a tough one for me, he and Wims were so kind to me. His family and Wims took me with them on vacations to the beach and added me to their adventures. Although we lost touch after school, I will always think of his as my greatest friend of my youth. Always kind and humorous he had what was a great soul. Word only reached me tonight, but my thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends in this time of mourning.
