Walt taught me a lot about BASIC firefighting, driving the apparatus, all about the department and "Old Ashburn". He was easy to talk to and would always be willing to listen. He made me feel at ease about being the only female in the department and told me "to never mind what the other people were saying, that I joined for the RIGHT reason and he was happy I was there."
Walt, you will be missed.

Growing up in Ashburn brought alot of families together as one. It is a great loss to see another family member leave us. I will remember Walt as Mr. Eamich just like in the old Ashburn days. The fire siren would sound, and you would see Mr. Eamich, dad and all of the others rush to the firehouse to help someone in need. Dad would drive and I remember Mr. Eamich riding shotgun as we called it. The stories that those guys had to tell always made us laugh. I will never forget your laugh Mr. Eamich when those stories came about. He was always so nice to us "firehouse kids". You will be greatly missed. You are now with Ray and Ricky. That firehouse in heaven is growing. I know you will be busy with the both of them. I can see you and Ray trying to figure out who drives and who rides shotgun...and Ricky ends up driving. I am sure you all have alot to catch up on. You guys take care of each other and someday we will all be together to share those stories and smiles again. God bless you Mr. Eamich. Your old Ashburn family will always love you.##imported-begin##Cathy (Ramaley) Cox##imported-end##
