Bill, or Uncle Bill, became such an impactful person to me in such a short period of time. When transferring colleges and contemplating different career paths, it was Uncle Bill who directed me towards joining the AROTC program. I hardly knew Bill at the time, but I was instantly impressed by his life experiences and that I was related to such an accomplished career-driven person. ROTC went on to become one of the most rewarding experiences of my life thus far.
When I graduated college 2 years ago I was in the open world with a degree I didn’t intend on using and a talent for art I always wish I had pursued. Once again Uncle Bill came out of nowhere and called me, explaining he had a lifelong dream of publishing one of his children's books, heard I could draw and asked if I could illustrate it. At this point I felt fate granted us an opportunity to make something beautiful. The past 2 years with Bill was spent working on the kids book, bouncing ideas off each-other and planning our next step. There was never a dull moment since beginning this journey with Bill, and he kept me on my toes making sure I was getting done! I thank God I was fortunate enough to be able to finish the book and have him be able to see the finished result before he passed. Though our relationship was short, Bill managed to provide me with some of the greatest opportunities of my life thus far, all out of what seemed to be thin air. I feel blessed to have been able to get to know him, and I’m so happy and proud that our relationship will forever be commemorated with our book.
With lots of love, Christopher.
