William Lee Young's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of William Lee Young of Cocoa, Florida announce his passing, on July 22, 2019 at the age of 79 while visiting family in Ashburn, Va.
Bill was born to parents Robert Parlane Young and Bertha Gladys Young (Weger) on December 21, 1939 and grew up as the youngest of three boys in Grass Creek, Indiana. A graduate of Purdue University in Electrical Engineering, upon graduation Bill began work for Lockheed Martin in California. He later moved to the Washington DC area and began working for the Federal Aviation Administration. After 28 years of service, he retired and worked as a private contractor before retiring in 2017.
He was an avid collector car enthusiast with a focus on 60s and 70s Pontiacs, and after retirement enjoyed traveling, particularly cruises.
Bill is survived by his wife Patricia (Patty) Young, his three children: Todd Young, Jeff Young, and Stacey (Young) Laubacher, with his first wife, June Young, and Patty’s children Todd Hammers and Jason Hammers. He is also survived by his older brother Robert Young, and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother James Young.
A Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 2:30 pm at the Loudoun Funeral Chapel, 158 Catoctin Circle, SE, Leesburg, VA.
Interment to be held later in Cocoa, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Bill's honor to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org).
